ColourPop Ultra Matte Lippies...... Do you need them?

I'm sure if you haven't been living under a rock, you've seen Colour Pop released "Ultra Matte" liquid lipsticks. This matte lip is a very trendy thing, Anastasia Beverly Hills (aka ABH) released their matte lipsticks that went for 3 times the price and people loved them! Lots of brands put a matte lipstick out, Stilla, KatVonD, Jefferre Star.......... Just to name a FEW (trust me. there's a ton)

Anyways! Matte lip, some love it and some hate it. On the other hand, I was stuck in the middle. I love a nice gloss with or without color in it, that matte lip........ looks SO pretty and they all claim to be long lasting. I gave in and bought some Jefferre Star colors, they were too crazy for me and the formula sunk into EVERY little crease of my lip. ABH kept popping up, I ordered "Lovely" because it was described as the "perfect go-to nude-pink" and it was, but also drying. It stayed on better then JS but I wasn't impressed. These two brands (I paid about $20 each) were a little on the pricey side. I had given up hope of ever being "into matte" after these failed attempts at rocking a matte lip.

Then Colour Pop saves the day!! They release "Ultra Matte" and they're only $6.50. For me, that's the perfect price that I can buy a few, try different colors and not break the bank.
(ps if you use the code THANKSBABE you get $5 off of a $30 purchase, anything over $30 ships for free)
After watching about 82 YouTube videos and of all of their swatches, I decided on Midi, Bumble, Solow, Mars, 1st Base. All of them are in my comfort zone and not to crazy. Since I ordered these when they first released the website was having issues and it took almost 2 hours to shop and check out.
When they got here I had to put these beauties on Instagram! The packaging is a simple tube with a silver top.

This is all of them, excuse the poor lighting.

SO at first I was excited, then after a bit..... the excitement wore off. Everyone was complaining that the lipsticks would flake and they were horrible. I exfoliate my lips with a homemade sugar scrub and a baby toothbrush (THANK YOU PINTREST) so I was hoping I wouldn't have this issue.

Like any educated makeup addict I needed to test these lippies........... and test I DID.
I love ColourPop's lippies sticks (there's a video and a blog all about them)

The simplest way I could think was to make a timeline of pictures. I can't just wear them at home, I needed a real life test. Will these Ultra Matte lipsticks hold up like the Lippie Sticks do??
I put it to the test. OH and trust me, this was complicated science, MythBusters would have helped conduct this experiment but I don't know them and they're probably busy. With that said............ The pressure is ON!

First pic of the day, butt-crack of dawn and at work.

Usually I have a smoothie or protein shake but I was being lazy.

As y'all can see, this wasn't really a "long wear" lipstick. To me, long wear lasts at least through my 8 hour work day, maybe even 12 hours. In the early 2000's my mom introduced me to long wear and at the time Max Factor was the best. For some reason I can't find it in stores anymore and I now have a new love (not matte)

Anyways! On with my experiment, I wasn't satisfied with this and I was let down. I decided the next day I should test the great ole Lippie Stick that I loved so much.

Lumiere

As you can see by noon, Lumiere Lippie Stick was gone.

Now I have to ask myself......... "What would Myth Busters do......?"
They'd find another variable and try it again, with that said.... the next day I tried the lippie stick again BUT this time with the matching lip liner under it. Okay, actually lip liner all over my lip and lippie stick only in the middle so it wouldn't look to dry.
Will it make a difference?
Will it stay longer?
Will it look matte?
...... The world will never know!
WAIT, sorry... we will know, by the end of this blog, we'll know.

This day at work was really busy, I got only a few pics.

After breakfast and coffee
After a late lunch. There's just a tint left.

My final conclusion, matte lips are not for me. Regardless of  the price point, none of them blew me out of the water. I think the best thing for my lips is the liner alone. It gave me a semi matte look without looking to dry. It didn't flake and it didn't look like my lips were chapped.

What did you think? Did you love them? Favorite color? Comment below and let me know!

SUPER DUPE or POPPY DUPE! - Tarte Amazionan Clay VS Rimmel Stay Matte

I've been seeing lots of people claim that Rimmel Stay Matte Foundation (about $5 at Ulta) is an exact dupe for Tarte's Amazonian Clay 12hr foundation ($38 at Sephora/Ulta and Tarte Online), I own and LOVE Tarte's foundation. So I decided I'd try it out and see if people were crazy or not.........
So, I started by doing half of my face with one foundation and the other half with the dupe. The rest of my face was the same (primer/blush/eyes/setting spray)
On my hand can you tell the difference? They both have a light and whipped texture, neither smell or do anything weird.
I figured a muggy, rainy day was perfect to test if my face would truly stay matte or not....... (insert dramatic sound effect here.......... bum, bum, baaaaaaaa)

Anyways...... Dramatic music aside....... Let the makeup show down BEGIN! SUPER DUPE OR POOPY DUPE (bum, bum, baaaaaa)

DO WE HAVE A WINNER?!?! ............. No............ No we don't keep reading, this isn't that quick of a makeup show down, that would be no fun!

So I took a bunch of selfies trying to get pictures of the side of my face, this was a little bit of a challenge because I felt ridiculous. I couldn't let my weird-ness ruin the makeup showdown! The show must go on, no matter how awkward my pictures get.

As you can see from the picture, after about an hour one side started to oxidize and turn pink. There was a slight hint of pink but since I was actively looking for stuff, I noticed it on my neck. I don't think it was hugely noticeable   So we went to lunch and from there went to run some errands. After I got back home I took some more awkward selfies, why? ....because that's what I do......

At this point, the pink from the oxidation had kind of went away. My nose was a little shiny but on both sides, I couldn't tell if one side had controlled the oil better then the other. (Disclaimer: My lovely boyfriend did steal my nose, he very well could have taken the makeup off in the process. Don't be mad at him, I may or may not have deserved it.)
So I'm sure by this time in the blog you're like "FOOL, NOBODY CARES.... WHICH IS BETTER" but don't worry, I'm getting there. I had to take a few more selfies since Tarte claimed to be 12 hour foundation. I wasn't planning on wearing the makeup for 12 hours (a girl needs her beauty sleep). So instead I took a picture right before I washed my face off and got ready for bed.

Any guesses, which side is the Tarte that I love so much and which is Rimmel, well wait NO MORE, the answer is here!!

No..... that's a dog.... but look how happy he is...... awww.... he must know which side is which.... or maybe he farted? Who knows?
OKAY! Here it is for real!
Final thoughts:
This is a VERY good dupe, the coverage is about the same and they both applied awesome. The only down fall was the Rimmel turning pink. Tarte has 25 shades of foundation to choose from, Rimmel has 6 colors. Is it worth the price difference? That's up to you. If you find a shade of Rimmel that works for you, then you won't be missing out on anything. If you have a harder to match tone, Tarte will be the winner. I'm wearing Tarte's "Medium Sand" and Rimmel's "200 Soft Beige"
I'd say this is a SUPER dupe, if you have a matching tone. Good job Rimmel!!

Colour Pop Cosmetics

...... My latest addiction in make up.....
Colour pop, they're a company based out of City of Angels (aka Los Angeles). They must be angels because their makeup is awesome!
Lippie Sticks
Yellow is a shadow the other 3 are blushes
They sell "Lippie Stix" that's their lipsticks and pencils for lips. All the colors have a matching or coordinating pencil. I say coordinating because there is a few lippie stix that have a slightly different tone then the pencil of the same name. I've bought several lippie sticks and a few pencils. They're all very smooth, they come in three different finishes Matte, Hyper Gloss and Cream. So far matte and cream seem to be my favorite. Hyper gloss isn't bad but I feel like it sits in the lines of my lips. I've tried exfoliating and using lip balm before application, it doesn't seem to help. These lippie sticks smell amazing, slightly sweet like a MAC lipstick (hint of vanilla) but it isn't over powering. The company makes everything in the USA and does not test on animals, according to the website they to test on humans from " – the ones in our HQ to be exact.". I love that they have a sense of humor.
Each lippie and pencil sell for $5 each, it's a great price for such a nice product!
BTW- I bought all of this stuff with my own money, I was not sponsored by Colour Pop..... They don't even know who I am.......BUT, in case they're reading this HI!! LOVE YALL!!
....okay, back to makeup. They also have eye shadows, remember I said they were angels? This further supports my statement. The shadows feel like angel food cake, its a unique combo of powder and cream. They apply best with your finger. I have been experimenting with other ways to apply them but so far your good ole finger win. These bad boys also sell for $5. They don't come in a palette because each eyeshadow needs to be kept closed tightly, if they dry out they will lose some magic (come on, who wants their magic lost??? NOT me).
Now comes the last but not least product that they sell, blush. It's not quite as magic as the shadows, they're more cream then magic but, that's okay, I'm not greedy. They sell for $8 and they're a little bit bigger then the shadows. I'll post pictures and I'm working on a swatch video.

In the box, lippie sticks, pencils and shadows

Neon Marble

I've come across LOTS of "pins" on Pinterest of these swirly pretty nail polishes! I finally went on a hunt to figure out how to do these beautiful manicures. All the videos were pretty much the same, everyone did it PERFECT. Which lead me to believe it was pretty easy.
OH BOY was I WRONG, after getting back from Sallys with all my polishes in hand, I set up my bowl of water and started dipping polishes in it. I quickly figured out it was anything but easy. My nails came out with bubbles or I missed the polish so it wasn't on my nails. After I got the hang of it and faced many trial and error sessions. I felt pretty confident in it, so I made a youtube video using my sister as a model...

All in all it was pretty good, I took pictures of my finished manicure after I cleaned it up a little...

I think next time I would like to try black, pink and glitter =)

Tshirt Scarf

I adventured off into the land of Pintrest.... (in case you didn't know its dangerous)

I always find recipes, DiY tutorials, make up tips, hair style, etc...
I've tried cooking cinnamon rolls in my waffle iron, water marbling my nails(turned out super cool) and now I just made a tshirt scarf. I got the shirt at goodwill so it was 1.99, in case I messed it up I didn't want to waste money on a good shirt =)
In the how-to's they all use a TSHIRT, I used a stretchy shirt XL, the fabric moved alot which made it hard to cut in straight lines. Theres two ways to make the scarf, one with a braid and one without. I'm sure theres a MILLION other ways but those are the two most popular that I've found.
I got two shirts so I can try both. Tonight I did the one with a braid. This one needs: a shirt, scissors and hot glue. The scarf without a braid doesn't need hot glue. BOTH are no sew (woohoo!) Following the videos on youtube/pintrest I completed the scarf! WOOOOYA!! But then I had an extra piece of shirt that I felt bad throwing away. Sooo PiNTREST to the RESCUE. I found a howto on headbands.... but it was ugly and my head was to big... Sooo.... youtube! I found a howto on the "Josephine" knot on a bracelet. Happy to report it turned out amazing! Everything was way easier then I thought it would be!

Pants on the Ground

A couple of nights ago, I was running around SA like I always do after work. My mom asked if I could take her to HEB, not cause her legs are broken or any legit reason.. just cause she likes shopping with me. I told her I'd be home in a bit, then I got distracted at the post office and some other stuff.
She had told me that she wasn't feeling good so I called my sister to see if she was sleeping.
Kirst(my sis) says "No, but her and Casey (my brother) are getting ready to leave for HEB"

So my feelings were mildly hurt, but then again it was HEB and I'm the one that took forever and a day.
Instead of going home and doing nothing I stopped by express lube to bug the guys there for awhile.

When I got home NOBODY was cooking or had any idea what was for dinner.
I went in the kitchen and my brother did this weird shimmy dance thing and his pants hit the floor and sat there on his ankles. I looked at him and said
"DUDE GROSS pull ur pants up!"
he laughed and said "whatever i'm 18 i can do what i want"
well.... lemme tell you, two can play that game.
I pulled the draw string on my scrub pants and down came my pants. (yes.. i know i'm a dork) He looked at me and turned red.
He then goes into the living room where my mom and kirst are sitting and just stood there.
Kirst first realized Casey's pants and looked all weird at him
"OMG CASEY WHATS WRONG WITH YOU?? UR NASTY"
Well my mom agree'd.. mean while like two feet away from him, I'm die'n laughing cause they didn't notice mine.
When they did Kirst said "Noooo OOHHHhh nnoooo mom look at Candi! SHES DOING IT TOOO!!!!" I stood there all proud with my hands on my hips and said "uummmm.. duh only cool people wear their pants at their ankles, waists are sooo yesterday"
My mom stands up, unbuttons her pants and dropped them to her ankles... soo now just a quick recap..

We now have.. Me, my brother and my mom all standing in the living room with our pants down.

Kirst is sitting on the floor with this AWFUL look on her face.. like we killed her puppy or something. She started yelling that this is why she can't have friends over.. ohh it was funny.. then I pulled out my phone and snapped a pic... PG of course..
So there ya have it, everyones pants at their ankles and kirstin throwin a peace sign cause she couldn't be left outa the pic..

When Girl Met Pen!

....pen!!

confused? you should be..

Let me explain,

Juliette (my friend) was talking on the phone to this CRAZY lady about going to look at a car she wanted to buy. The lady asked if she had a pen to write down her address, Jul pulled out her "FAV" pen and wrote down her info. She gets off the phone and tells me everything the chick said... it was boring I won't tell you that part.
Well we go and pick up Jul's boyfriend and we all went on our way to see this lady's car, long story short... The lady was rude and the car was a piece of crap! I thought it was gonna fall apart if they drove it.. but it didn't.
Sooo we go to Jul's apt to drop her and her dude off. Shes getting her stuff together and said "ahh do you know where my pen is?!?!" Her boyfriend and I looked for it for a bit and then I said "you know what.. if i find it i'll give it back to ya tomorrow" and her BOYFRIEND had to add in there "yeah like if u find it and hold it ransome she'd totally pay it".... muhahaha
A few days later I'm driving and i felt something rolling around in my floor board.. so I look down to discover.... THE PEN!  I put it in my purse so i could give it back. Well I guess something happened because I decided to torture the pen. Just incase ya'll are wondering the pen did nothing wrong, it was just in the wrong place at the WRONG time.
I get home and go to work.. I knew I wanted some sorta guns or something but I can't draw.. at all. So I went to walgreens thinking there would be some "G.I. Joe" with some guns or something, but found nothing. I didn't wanna ask the guy there "umm excuse me do you have any little guys to hold a pen hostage??"

By this time I'm a little sad. I went on google thinking maybe I could print out a pic or something. With great LUCK i found a page that had like 30 different weapons on it.. soo I printed it and cut them out... blind folded the hostage and then it began!

I KNOW U THINK IM CRAZY.. WHATEVER =D

After I did that I was thinking about all the junk i've ever see done to a hostage in moives and everything.. well.. here are the pics that i sent to her while she was at work...

"someone has held your pen hostage!!  Look what was fwd to me"

"its next"

"this is to let you know, this is serious"

"Time's running out"

Well this whole thing had been over a day while she was at work and I was stuck at home with the AC broken.. which is NO fun..

Now for those of you who are concerned.. the pen did get returned the next day.. and I got a good laugh outa it.. she still doesn't think its funny =D
 k.. thats it for now
